Whale Oil Row
Huntington Street, New London, CTThis collection of stately buildings, known as Whale Oil Row, was built between 1835 and 1845, in the Greek Revival style. They once housed whale shipowners, whalers, and merchants whose wealth was derived from whaling and the use of the treasured whale oil to light lamps.
