Union Station

27 Water Street, New London, CT
860-442-1001 Phone

Designed by the great 19th century American architect Henry Hobson Richardson, Union Station is the last of Richardson's monumental public buildings. It was completed in 1888 after his death. Richardson revived the Romanesque style of architecture in America, a style reflected in the massive arched entryway to the building and in many of its other features done in intricate red brickwork. Over the years, the station has undergone many renovations and serves as an integral part of New London's transportation hub. Today, both Amtrak and Shoreline East serve this station, heading to Boston and New York City, with smaller stops along the way. Even if you are not leaving town, take some time to sit in the sunlit, grand lobby and watch the world go by.
