New London Main Street's Valentine Party - a Fun Time All Around

On February 14, New London Main Street supporters came out in style - 1980's style, that is. For this year's annual fundraiser, Main Street threw a mock wedding reception in the Crocker House Ballroom, complete with "bride and groom" and 80's hilarious wedding traditions. Taking a cue from the hit movie and stage musical The Wedding Singer (to be performed at The Garde on February 27 and 28), guests showed up in their 80's finest and danced to hit music from the decade supplied by DJ Lee Rocha.

Guests noshed on appetizers and finger foods generously donated by local restaurants, and enjoyed wedding cake and sweet treats too. Gourmet Galley provided bartending services, mixing up plenty of the night's signature cocktail, "Sex on the Beach." Beautiful wedding cakes were donated by Gumpel's Delicious and Crab Creek Cakes.

Highlights of the evening included a "Most Outrageous Bridesmaid Dress" contest, won by Susan Satti of New London, a Big Hair contest (Cadmarie Salon was on hand to help the flat-haired in the crowd attain maximum volume) and dollar dances with the "bride and groom." A number of lucky guests won some very special raffle & auction items, all proceeds benefiting New London Main Street.

New London Main Street would like to thank everyone who helped to make this event a success including event sponsors, raffle & auction item donors, the District restaurants who donated food, the many incredible volunteers who made it all come together, and everyone who attended for getting into the spirit of the event and for their continued support.
