'Young Frankenstein' comes ALIVE on the Garde Arts Center Main Stage
Garde ends their 2011-12 Broadway at the Garde Series with Mel Brooks' monster musical
(New London) "Young Frankenstein," the classic Mel Brooks movie, is alive... and its headed to New London's Garde Arts Center for two performances on Saturday, May 5, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The performances, the last in the 2011-12 Broadway at the Garde Series, are sponsored Blu-Prints Unlimited Inc, Bank of America and Conway, Londregan, Sheehan & Monaco, PC .
From the creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash The Producers, Young Frankenstein opened on Broadway in 2007; won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Broadway Musical in 2008; began touring nationally in 2009; and has earned five Broadway.com Audience Awards.
Based on the Oscar-nominated 1974 film, Young Frankenstein is the wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Brooks. The musical features raucous scores, including The Transylvania Mania, He Vas my Boyfriend and the unforgettable treatment of Irving Berlins Puttin on the Ritz.
In 2000, the classic film was ranked No. 13 on AFIs 100 Funniest American Movies of All Time and in 2003, it was chosen for preservation in the Library of Congress National Film Registry.
Tickets to "Young Frankenstein" are $70 loge, $60 orchestra, $50 front balcony and $40 rear balcony and are available at the Garde Box Office, 325 State St., New London, Conn.
