The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus is holding auditions on Wednesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 22, at 6:00 p.m., immediately preceding the regularly scheduled rehearsal, which begins at 7:00 p.m. Auditions are in the dining hall attached to the rear of the First Congregational Church, 66 Union Street, New London.
Those auditioning should bring music of their choice, such as a hymn. Show tunes are not appropriate. Appointments are not necessary. If selected, singers may be invited to join the rehearsal that evening. Approximately eighty-five auditioned singers, conducted by Mark Singleton, rehearse weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., from September through April.
The chorus will present their annual Holiday Concert on December 18, 2010, at Harkness Chapel on the Connecticut College campus. The second performance of the season will be Mahler's Symphony No. 2 on April 30, 2011, at the Garde Arts Center with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Toshi Shimada, Music Director.
