Celebration of dance on the Plaza! New London High School Dancers preview hip-hop at noon! David Dorfman Dance perform at 12:30pm!

NLHS Dance Team began as a club 3 years ago. They are active year round and compete in 4 competitions a year. They perform at sporting, school and community events. The team is still growing and is able to reach a group of students who are interested in performance as an outlet. All students are held to the same standards as sports teams and are required to maintain good academic and behavioral expectations within the school.

Founded in 1985, David Dorfman Dance, has performed extensively throughout the world and has been awarded eight New York Dance and Performance ("Bessie") Awards—the Oscars of modern dance. The company has been Company-in-Residence at Connecticut College since 2007. The company is developing a new work, Prophets of Funk, based on the life and music of Sly and the Family Stone. The first public performance of this work will be held in September, 2010 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
