12:00pm to 8:00pm
Spirit Gallery Tattoo - New London’s tattoo studio and art gallery - presents "Ego's Last Bask: I Found My Answer in Your Ecstatic Substance," a collection of new artwork by artist Traci Cremeans. The show will open on Saturday, January 26, with an artist’s reception from 6-8 p.m. and will feature the music from Giarcthemighty’s new album "Voyage to Giarcturus." The event is free and open to the public.

"This body of work focuses on the space of consciousness that is pre-enlightenment, in which the ego puts up its last defenses," said Cremeans. "To be aware of one's potential, but to cower before the void, is to be locked in the body, frozen in the moment of its present condition: breasts, ribcage, hips; desire, hunger, and image-obsession."

Cremeans implements herself as the deliverer of intense experiences, photographing her own body for reference. "Deliverance from ego is not a smooth transition, but a road through hell. As suggested in the show's title, it is through the urge to merge with another, the balance sought between polarities, that we can break apart the ego," said Cremeans.

"Ego's Last Bask" will hang until March 16, 2013. Viewing hours are 12 - 8 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday at Spirit Gallery Tattoo. For more information, call (860) 443-0484 or visit www.spiritgallerytattoo.com.
