Saturday, July 26, 2008, 10 AM - 6 PM Explore the Blue Planet at this free, environmental-themed festival for fun and learning with famous children's authors, big boats, interactive performances, and over 25 children's activities taking place at New London's Waterfront Park:
- Enter the Fish Tales & Q105 Songwriter Contest (PDF, 1.7 MB) by July 15th for your chance to win Q105 prize packs, the chance to be the next Kids' Radio Hour co-host, and more!
- Authors, entertainers, & special guests including Cutter from the CT Defenders and Beremy of Build-A-Bear Workshop arrive by tug at 10 AM!
- Featuring the John Paul & Patricia Anne tugboats, the Windjammer Mystic Whaler, and the Cornell antique tug
- Reading tent with nationally-known children's book authors for children ages 3-12. Grab the Fish Tales bookmark (PDF, 440 KB) for a summer reading list!
- Live music, balloon sculpting, roaming pirates, & over 25 activities for children!
- Giveaways by Beremy of Build-A-Bear Workshop
- Winners of The Day's Summer Reading Bookmark Contest announced
- New London Community Boating Sailing Races (All Day) & Neighborhood Alliance Fishing Tournament (8 AM)

Don't forget to enter The Day's Summer Reading Bookmark Contest. Children ages Pre-K to 8th grade are eligible to participate, with 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners in three different age categories. Winners will kick off the festival as they arrive by tugboat and will also receive special prizes from Build-A-Bear Workshop. Winning bookmarks will be displayed in The Day's Summer Reading Gallery at the event and winners will also be featured on Zip06. Entry forms will be available in The Day paper on July 3rd, 6th, and 8th.
